Aaron has a lot of Warhammer 40k, both his and those for others, and I could feel the itch starting to grow. I love painting miniatures, and had done a massive 40k army before (back in the olden days of 1994-95), so in talking to Aaron it sounds like that it's going to be a regular thing at his house, registered club and the whole bit (even with a real gaming table that I'm going to help create).
We left and I was talking about it with my wife (who is very tolerant of my hobbies) and shock of shocks, she's not against me playing and painting again (at least not yet). So I call up Aaron, and make a bro-date for after the kids are in bed.
After gawking over what's painted, in mid-flight, and what's just still happily sitting on sprues, I get it in my head that I'm really going to do this, and going to tackle something newly revised, Space Wolves. Other than the standard baby blue paint scheme (which we'll alter), I love the look and feel of the things, and I think we're going to make a go of it.
After talking general strategy and army make-up, we're going to shoot for around 1500 points to start with. I think that's manageable not only to paint and play, but won't cost so much that my wife will start checking my credit card statements on a regular basis to see what I'm buying.
It's off to Internet land to start searching for bargains (if they exist)...
